My Three Goals For Graduation

I have never been the person who sets goals for themselves, really. I have always had goals and aspirations in mind, but I never wrote anything down or made it concrete. Well, I completely changed that during these last few years. I went through a rough time in my early years of college and I think a lot of that had to do with the lack of goals I truly made for myself. So, I started putting more details into my goals and I started writing them down. A solid goal should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely. This has helped me track and measure my progress on my goals, which keeps me motivated to keep working so I can reach them. With graduation approaching, I have recently set a few goals I would like to reach before I walk across that stage.

Goal Number One: By May 5th, I will have a accepted a job in either events and/or marketing.
This goal is huge for me. Ever since freshman year I have been terrified of being “stuck” without a job after graduation. All I want right now is to be in a job that I enjoy, make some money, and just live life. This goal gave me the push I needed to just let my anxiety go and start applying to jobs!

Goal Number Two: By May 5th, I will be more self-confident in my myself and my body.

Now, this goal isn’t super specific - but it’ll do. I have never really been fully comfortable in my body. There have been periods where I’m happier with it than other times, but it has never been good enough for me. I want to change that. Not only have I been hitting the gym more and eating better(ish), but I have been practicing self-love. It is important to love yourself for exactly who you are - which has been a journey for me.

Goal Number Three: By the end of June 2018, I will have moved out of Ohio.

This goal is so important to me. Don’t get me wrong, I love the buckeye state and I love that my family is here and I will hate leaving them, but it’s time for me to venture out on my own - at least for a little while. I need to see new places, meet new people, experience different cultures and lifestyles. I just think it is time for something completely new. Where do I want to go? Honestly, I am very open - I have been applying all across the country. One place that I would just love to end up someday would be Seattle, Washington. Rain is my favorite weather - it could literally rain 90% of the year and I would be perfectly happy! This goal is kind of dependent on the first goal time wise, but even if I have to stay in Ohio for a bit it will always be a goal of mine to work towards.

Like I said, I have found goals to be seriously helpful. Goals motivate you to keep on pushing, even when life gets a little tough. They show you that there is something important that you are working towards that makes all the hard work you’re doing completely worth it. Just keep your mindset positive and focus on your goals! We are in this together, we got this! Let me know some of your goals in the comments:)

  1. GIRL! I want a career in events, too! I completed my course and obtained my Diploma of Event Management a year or so ago. Unfortunately, no luck on the job front (the market for that kind of profession here in Australia is very small) but it's my goal to have a, event management career by the end of 2018. :) These are great goals! I love setting myself goals aha, I find it's very motivating. Good luck with all you want to achieve, girl and congratulations on your (almost) graduation! xx

Planning My First Event: My Initial Thoughts

On January 17th, 2018 I walked into my first class of my last semester, extremely excited because I have been looking forward to this class my whole college career - I am finally in Convention and Event Planning. I had no idea what to expect from this class, I honestly thought we were just going to be learning the ins and outs of event planning (lecture style) or maybe we get to volunteer at some events to get some background hands-on experience. Boy, was I wrong. We were put into groups of 5 and were given 12 weeks to plan and execute an event - specifically a fundraiser. Because I have learned so much throughout this process, I would really like to share! This post will serve as “Part One: My Initial Thoughts” in a mini series of “Planning My First Event”.

Being an event planner is my dream job, which is why I was so excited to finally be able to take this class! I was ready to learn all that I could about planning events. What I didn’t think I was ready for? Planning and implementi…

My Favorite Beauty YouTubers

Cable TV is quite expensive… and as a jobless college student, I decided that Netflix and YouTube is the way to go! With that being said, I watch a lot of YouTube - so I definitely have my favorites! I’ve been into makeup a lot lately so I typically watch beauty YouTubers. Now, this isn’t to say that I dislike anyone that I don’t mention, these are just the people I watch the most, for whatever reason!

Nazanin Kavari Naz was actually the first beauty YouTuber that I started watching. I have no idea how I found her but she is from my home city so I probably saw her on social media somewhere. Anyways, I really love her main channel videos (beauty and fashion) and her vlog channel that she shares with her sister. I just think she is super genuine and bubbly, which is fun to watch. I also really like the tutorials that she does, they are usually pretty natural - which is how I do my makeup! I have bought one product that she recommended, Too Faced Hangover Primer, and I love it! I would bu…

Do It Yourself: Graduation Cap

Well, I did it….I GRADUATED! It was a long five years but I finally made it. And of course I had to decorate my grad cap! I didn’t want to do anything too elaborate but I still wanted it to be cute and personal. Special shout out to my good friend Rachel for giving me the idea:):)

If you haven’t read my about me then you may not know, but I just graduated from Ohio University. One of our logos is a green paw print and it is my favorite logo honestly. It is just so cute and simple, I love it. Which, I love it and this university so much, I got it tattooed on me! (cue another shameless plug to a past post). With all that being said, when Rachel suggested it I immediately knew it was perfect. I got super excited to decorate so I ran to Joann Fabrics and got all my supplies. I wanted to keep things simple, but still very extra - of course. I decided to go with a white sparkly background to fill the cap and then do a green sparkly paw print on top - I used scrapbook paper for this. As the a…
