About Me

Hey everyone, my name is Erin and welcome to Living Erin :)

Just a little background on me…I am from Ohio (Go Bucks!) and I am currently a 5th year undergrad at Ohio University (Go Bobcats!) and I will graduate this spring with a degree in Event Planning and a certificate in Entrepreneurship (Quick update, I did it! I graduated!!). Now, this isn’t my exact degree title but it is kind of complicated so this is a simplified version. And before you ask, no - I have no idea what I am doing after school…that’s a whole post on its own. I am currently 23 and that is just crazy to think about…wow. I am also an intern for my university Athletic Marketing and Sales Department (Yay sports!) I love animals, wine, sports, antiques, the color pink, exploring, events, and other random things here and there. I’m all over the place, it’s fine.

This is me and my buddy, Toby

So, why a blog? I have wanted to start one for a while because I love to write but I have always been scared to put myself out there. What if people make fun of me? What if people don’t read it? Literally every scary question has been going through my head. But, I decided..who cares??? Also, I couldn't figure out what type of content I would create. I thought that it needed to be specific to one thing..you know..beauty or cooking or DIY, etc… but I decided that I am going to make my own rules. I have been reading some marketing books lately and they have been a big motivating factor for me to do this. I also just think this would be a great outlet for me and I think a lot of people could relate to some of the things I will talk about, or not, it’s fine (Grey's Anatomy is my favorite show, if you can’t tell).

So, what is this blog about? Everything. If I am inspired to write about it, I’m going to. And something to note, this isn’t going to be a blog filled with “how to…” type of content. It’s going to be journal style, reviews, some “how to”, my experiences...It could be about my experience with anxiety, it could be about school, career searching (which will move into just “career” once I get into a job), food, movies/TV, rants… LIFE. I am also not going to have a posting schedule to begin with. Like I said, I am a college student…I am busy. I also don’t want this to feel like school or a job, I don’t want to have a deadline and force content out because I HAVE to, you know? I’ll shoot for twice a month, but it could be more or less…who knows really. Another thing to note, the grammar isn’t going to be perfect…okay?
Well, I think I have said everything I need to for the first post. I hope you’re into it and I see you here again sometime. But if not, thanks for reading this one!

P.S. Meredith and Christina say “I'm fine” a billion times throughout Grey’s Anatomy if you didn’t catch that reference :)

Planning My First Event: My Initial Thoughts

On January 17th, 2018 I walked into my first class of my last semester, extremely excited because I have been looking forward to this class my whole college career - I am finally in Convention and Event Planning. I had no idea what to expect from this class, I honestly thought we were just going to be learning the ins and outs of event planning (lecture style) or maybe we get to volunteer at some events to get some background hands-on experience. Boy, was I wrong. We were put into groups of 5 and were given 12 weeks to plan and execute an event - specifically a fundraiser. Because I have learned so much throughout this process, I would really like to share! This post will serve as “Part One: My Initial Thoughts” in a mini series of “Planning My First Event”.

Being an event planner is my dream job, which is why I was so excited to finally be able to take this class! I was ready to learn all that I could about planning events. What I didn’t think I was ready for? Planning and implementi…

My Favorite Beauty YouTubers

Cable TV is quite expensive… and as a jobless college student, I decided that Netflix and YouTube is the way to go! With that being said, I watch a lot of YouTube - so I definitely have my favorites! I’ve been into makeup a lot lately so I typically watch beauty YouTubers. Now, this isn’t to say that I dislike anyone that I don’t mention, these are just the people I watch the most, for whatever reason!

Nazanin Kavari Naz was actually the first beauty YouTuber that I started watching. I have no idea how I found her but she is from my home city so I probably saw her on social media somewhere. Anyways, I really love her main channel videos (beauty and fashion) and her vlog channel that she shares with her sister. I just think she is super genuine and bubbly, which is fun to watch. I also really like the tutorials that she does, they are usually pretty natural - which is how I do my makeup! I have bought one product that she recommended, Too Faced Hangover Primer, and I love it! I would bu…

Do It Yourself: Graduation Cap

Well, I did it….I GRADUATED! It was a long five years but I finally made it. And of course I had to decorate my grad cap! I didn’t want to do anything too elaborate but I still wanted it to be cute and personal. Special shout out to my good friend Rachel for giving me the idea:):)

If you haven’t read my about me then you may not know, but I just graduated from Ohio University. One of our logos is a green paw print and it is my favorite logo honestly. It is just so cute and simple, I love it. Which, I love it and this university so much, I got it tattooed on me! (cue another shameless plug to a past post). With all that being said, when Rachel suggested it I immediately knew it was perfect. I got super excited to decorate so I ran to Joann Fabrics and got all my supplies. I wanted to keep things simple, but still very extra - of course. I decided to go with a white sparkly background to fill the cap and then do a green sparkly paw print on top - I used scrapbook paper for this. As the a…
